Gwen Hoyt
Gwen Hoyt (she/her) grew up in Holderness, New Hampshire, and started doing art from a young age. She was always doing art because it was fun and as the years progressed her passion for it grew. The first time Hoyt tried oil painting she fell completely in love and that's when she started seriously considering being an artist. Hoyt studied at Plymouth State University and received a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in studio art with a focus in painting. Gwen works with all kinds of mediums but oil is definitely her favorite. She's learned a lot about herself and the process just by creating and it'll forever be a lifelong journey of creating, learning, and growing. "My work focuses on life and death concepts in nature. I collect many oddities and have incorporated them into my recent work. I like acknowledging all areas of the cycle of life. Death can be considered disturbing or gruesome but when looking at it through a different lens it's just as beautiful as life. Almost all of the pieces I create are using dead subjects but my use of saturated color has a tendency to bring life back into these once living beings."
