Timothy Girard
Timothy Girard is an emerging artist, currently based in Plymouth, NH. He recently graduated from Plymouth State University with a BFA in Art and Design, with a focus in printmaking. He grew up in Berlin, NH, and takes most of his inspiration from life in the White Mountains. Working in a variety of different mediums, Girard’s work captures the beauty of New Hampshire's mountains and forests. "Growing up, I always took how beautiful it is here for granted. I got bored of seeing the same mountains over and over again, everywhere I went. But as I grew older I began to study them, climb them, and appreciate them."
Much of his recent work is done in Cyanotype. This is a type of photographic process where paper is coated in a solution of ferric ammonium citrate and potassium ferricyanide. When exposed to sunlight or UV rays, the result is this beautifully rich blue color. Girard uses this process to develop digital photographs of New Hampshire woods.
