Donna Balsan
Donna McLeod Balsan was trained at NYU Tisch School of Arts in 1980. She then married French independent film producer, Humbert Balsan and moved to France where she lived for the next 25 years. She trained at Institut Superior de Peinture Decoratif Paris, specializing in Trompe l'oeil, faux marbre/bois, patinas, and murals. She worked on decorative painting projects all-over France, US, and Europe; in hotels, chateaux, private homes, apartments, and film sets. She moved to Aix en Provence in 1995 where she was deeply influenced by fauve landscapes of painters working in Colliore (South of France). She then studied at L'Atelier Libre with a Paris Beaux Art trained painter in Aix en Provence. She has exhibited in Aix en Provence and the United States. The colors, vibrancy and texture of the pastels show the strong influence of Provence in Donna's work.
