From the Director:
The direction of Patricia Ladd Carega Gallery has always been to exhibit unique contemporary art. Technique, originality and "something more" not easily defined, figure in the work exhibited here. Art is subjective. Color, composition, subject and texture all are components in a painting or sculpture. How one reacts and converses with the piece makes an art lover.
Patricia Ladd Carega is the owner and director of the gallery. Inspired early in life by an art collecting, art mentoring family; it was not a big step into a fascination with Art History. A year in Florence studying at the University of Florence and learning Italian fueled her ongoing interests in the creative world both past and present. Early married life took her back across the Atlantic to Rome and then Paris. Visits to art galleries, museums, and long walks around these cities reinforced her passion and respect for the applied arts.
After Rome, Paris, Washington and Miami, how did the gallery get to Sandwich, NH? A magnificent barn with soaring space begged to show contemporary work. The structure, completed in 1825, is a masterpiece in itself as is the view of the Ossipee Mountains from the second floor loft.
Hopefully a visit to the gallery is an educational adventure in ideas, color, technique, innovation and creativity. We welcome all visitors whether collectors or curious passerby’s. It’s a genuine pleasure to be a destination for art lovers from all corners of the USA who find their way to Sandwich.
